Reasons for expectations

This Santosh Sivan directed film started garnering expectations right from the date it was announced. The director’s desire to have a pan-Indian appeal to the film has led him to bring in Genelia D’Souza, Vidya Balan and Prabhu Deva in addition to the hero Prithviraj who also happens to be the joint producer of the film.

The cinematographer side of Santosh Sivan has brought out aesthetic visuals in Urumi and the period feel of the film is evident from the tone to the texture to the costumes of the artists.

The lead artists have been continuously filling us with their experiences and the training they underwent for Urumi which has raised the expectations very high. For instance, Genelia training in Kalari, horse riding and sword fight and Vidya Balan being trained in the traditional ancient dance form have been fed to the audience from time to time. To top it all, Prithviraj’s fans especially women have been swooning from his macho look in the pictures released.

Not only the period feel of Urumi but also its romantic angle and the patriotic flavor are expected to work very well for the film.

Audience: Sivan has not confined his film to cater to a particular section of audience but instead the film may appeal to all sections of the audience.
