Reason for expectations: Samuthirakani and Sasikumar are the two most promising names in the Tamil film industry, beckoning the new age cinema with their budget films that defy the notions of our commercial entertainers. They are quite versatile in both direction as well as acting, having proved both in their previous movies. Their earlier movie Nadodigal was a huge success that spawned a cult following and remakes in almost all regional languages and Hindi as well.
So when these two talents are coming together again for Poraali, it's obvious that expectations would be sky high. Poraali's progress has been kept away from the prying eyes of the media, for whatever reason. On the other hand, PR has never been huge for Sasikumar's movies. They stand on their own right at the box office on the basis of their strong storyline and impeccable direction.
Nothing in terms of story has been revealed about Poraali so far but we do know that the movie is directed by Samuthirakani and stars Allari Naresh, Swati, Vasundhara and Ganja Karuppu apart from Sasikumar leading the cast. Scored by Sundar C Babu, another Samuthirakani regular, the album has about 5 tracks one of which is sung by Samuthirakani and Sasi themselves.
Level of expectations: 50%
Genere: Action
Audiences: Releasing this weekend, Poraali is not only expected by fans of Sasikumar's acting and Samuthirakani's direction, but also by lovers of new age cinema that touches upon issues relevant to life in these times.
