Reason for expectations: After a decently successful Ponniyin Selvan, Prashanth is teaming up with dad Thyagarajan in the remake of his dad's 80s hit Malaiyoor Mambattiyan. Thyagarajan has tweaked the script, that reeks of 80s masala, to suit to present day audience. Mambattiyan is produced, directed and written by Thyagarajan himself.

The movie revolves around a rough, villager who has to take the law in his hands and mete out justice owing to the lawlessness of the land. Prashanth plays the title role, played by Thyagarajan. After initial speculations that Sneha might take up the role made legendary by Saritha, it was Meera Jasmine who won the deal. Along with her, there is Mumaith Khan who makes her appearance in Tamil after a long time, who plays the role done by Jayamalini in the original.

Mambattiyan is sort of Vadivelu's comeback movie after his career threatening political fiasco. Mambattiyan's other cast members include Prakash Raj, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Vijayakumar, Riyaz Khan and Manobala. Thaman's music has already produced a chartbuster in Kaattu Vazhi Poren, sung by Silambarasan. 

Level of expectations: 40%

Genere: Action

Audiences: Prashanth sports long hair, unlike Thyagarajan in the original, and tries to match up the character's coarseness with his soft looks. It is not only Prashanth fans but also Thyagarajan fans who are likely to provide patronage for the movie.
