Reason for expectations: After dabbling in a bit of everything related to cinema, Siddharth has dived directly into movie production with Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi. The movie, written and directed by the young debut director Balaji Mohan, is also co-produced by Nirav Shah and Sashikanth Shivaji. Balaji began his career as an assistant director for the urban flick Kulir 100, released a couple of years ago.

Legend has it that Siddharth was completely bowled over by the story narrated by Balaji Mohan and decided to produce the movie himself. The movie is bilingual and is being produced in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. A rom-com, the movie is also released on Valentine’s Day (that falls on a Tuesday this year) as opposed to the customary Fridays for movie releases.

Siddharth and Amala Paul perform the lead roles in this romance with most of the shooting taking place in Hyderabad since the movie showcases its leads in “an urban, modernistic backdrop” according to the director. Promotions have been on the roll for a long time now with quirky tidbits from the characters’ lives released as teasers – videos and print promos.

Particularly, the print ads were devised like a comic-book and shows conversations between Siddharth and Amala Paul. Their thought exchanges were seen as balloons. Insiders say the chemistry between the two will be the takeaway of the movie what with the promos arousing audience curiosity.

Thaman scores music for the movie and the five numbers have already garnered enough attention among the movie going public. Their popularity will only be enhanced upon the movie’s release tomorrow.

This bilingual romance is the only romance releasing for the Valentine’s Day. Telugu version of the movie is being distributed by Dil Raju while the Tamil version is expected to be distributed by Y NOT studios.
