Reason for expectations

 

In the world of remakes and straight-lifts of movies from other languages, it’s always nice to know about an indigenous Tamil movie. And how endearing can it get with a title like ‘Azhagar Samyin Kudhirai. For starters, the movie is the cinematic adaptation of renowned writer Bhaskar Sakthi’s short story.
 
Set in a village near Theni, Azhagar Samyin Kudhirai happens around Azhagar Sami, whose horse goes missing around the same time the wooden horse of the village goes missing - in which the village deity is taken in a procession every year. Azhagar Samyin Kudhirai is Azhagar Sami’s search for his horse since his wedding is closely connected to him finding the horse that provides him his livelihood.
 
Azhagar Samyin Kudhirai is handled by able hands of Suseenthiran, who is behind the successful Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu and Naan Mahaan Alla. The movie has Appukutty and Saranya Mohan in lead roles and is scored by maestro Ilayaraja. He recently turned a celebrity endorse for the movie declaring at the audio release that the movie is extraordinary and movies like this cannot be done on a budget.
 
 
Distributed by Cloud Nine, Azhagar Samyin Kudhirai is at the post-production table getting the final touches ready for an April 8 release.

Genre: Social theme

 

Audience: Azhagar Samyin Kudhirai is fit to fall in the children’s genre but given Suseenthiran’s earlier credits this is likely to be a family entertainer. Besides, since summer holidays are just around the corner this has the potential to become a huge hit with children.
