Singham released yesterday in Hindi and all the reviewers unanimously felt that Ajay Devgn could not replicate Suriya’s charm on screen in the Hindi version. That explains only one dimension of the multi-talented Suriya – the mass entertainer. His others sides range from powerhouse performer to easy-go-lucky star who is ranks top among the good looking actors of Indian cinema.

Tamil cinema’s good boy Suriya turns 36 today. In a career spanning about 15 years, Suriya has seen it all; Blockbusters, critically acclaimed roles, flops and awards. Although his career took off with a commercial movie, Suriya was quick enough to diversify his career – thanks to his versatility. Nandha started off his marathon performance that is continued in Pithamagan, Perazhagan, Gajini and Varanam Ayiram.

His commercial entertainers have also been mega hits; namely Kaakha Kaakha, Vel, Ayan and the aforementioned Singham. Thanks to the super success of Ayan, Suriya’s next film with K V Anand, the asking price of their next project Maatraan is about 60 crores by the distributors. This, just as the movie is going on the floors and as the shooting has barely begun. Suriya – Murugadoos’s Ezham Arivu is
another ambitious project in the making and is expected to achieve the blockbuster status.
