Kamal's Viswaroopam - Special Article

Kamal’s decision making capabilities are legendary – at least when it comes to deciding his next project. He never leaves his fans in a limbo about the announcement of his next movie. There have always been immediate announcements after his every move. But what happened now? One wonders. Almost a year has passed since we saw Kamal in the rom-com Manmadan Ambu and we still are in dark about his next movie?

Like every other time, there was official announcement even before Manmadan Ambu finished shooting that Kamal would work for a Selvaraghavan movie that will predominantly be shot in London. And then came news that it was named Viswaroopam. And then, as it seems, it became jinxed. Blame it on the time of announcement or anything else, but there are hardly signs to assure that the movie is indeed being made.

Early signs of Viswaroopam’s jinx came from the announcement that Selvaraghavan left the movie. Be that as it may, Kamal took up the director’s mantle and was all set to shoot with the current Bollywood sensation (who in turn is Shruti Hassan’s contemporary) Sonakshi Sinha. Whatever happened, Sonakshi walked swiftly out of the door calling it quits. By then, we all became aware that Viswaroopam has serious issues. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out now, do you?

Following Sonakshi – these were only rumors and never substantiated by any fragment of truth – a host of lead women in the market are said to pair up with Kamal for Viswaroopam. These include Anushka, Shriya, Deeksha Seth, Vidya Balan, Sameera Reddy and Priya Anand. The funniest of these is that Kamal himself revealing that he does not even know who Priya Anand is. At one point, there were even reports that Amy Jackson is playing a part in the movie. Rahul Bose was said to be the antagonist.

Latest update states that the film was supposed to be shot in the US and since the consulate refused visas for the cast and crew the venue is changed to Canada. Kamal’s own production banner Raj Kamal international is supposedly producing the movie.

While wishing the cast and crew all the best in the movie’s soon launch, we also hope Kamal comes out with some kind of official announcement about what is happening with the project for the benefit of his fans.
